The PADI Open Water Course is an internationally recognised scuba diving certification, which allows you to dive to 18 meters. During your PADI Open Water Course at Adventure Club Phi Phi you’ll learn how to become a safe, competent and confident diver. When you complete your PADI Open Water Course you’ll be ready to dive anywhere in the world and you’ll be among millions of other divers who made the same choice as you – to become PADI Open Water Divers!
Who Can Take The PADI Open Water Diver Course?
You do not need to have any previous diving experience. The PADI Open Water Course is designed for beginners. You need to be a minimum of 10 years old and be in good general health. You should be able to swim 200 meters (no time limit and in any style or combination of styles you choose) and be comfortable in the water – that’s all!
You will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire on arrival and you can view it here. If you answer “no” to all questions you do not need to see a doctor. If you answer “yes” to any questions, please contact us for advice).
What Does The PADI Open Water Diver Course at Adventure Club Include?
The PADI Open Water Course is divided into 3 components (1) Knowledge Development, (2) Confined Water Dives and (3) Open Water Dives, as follows:
Knowledge Development: PADI E-Learning allows you to study all of the Knowledge Development sessions online before you come to Phi Phi. PADI E-Learning allows you to work from home, at your own pace and fit your studying around your existing schedule. When you arrive at Adventure Club Phi Phi you’ll just need 2 days to complete the practical diving sessions – which are the best part!
Studying to learn to dive in Phi Phi – It is also possible to complete the Knowledge Development when you are here. You’ll work through the PADI Student Manual and videos and answer quiz questions as you go along. You’ll study in our dive centre overlooking the beach and the ocean – it will be the best classroom you ever had! There is a final exam at the end. To take the complete course including theory at Adventure Club takes 4 days.
Confined Water Dives: When you learn to dive in Koh Phi Phi sessions give you the chance to practice basic dive skills in a safe and controlled environment. At Adventure Club Phi Phi we are extremely fortunate to be able to walk off our white sand beach into the ocean where there is a shallow sandy area for practicing skills. Your instructor will talk you through the skills step by step and give you a full demonstration before you try yourself. As well as learning basic skills, you’ll also run though how to deal with a range of emergency situations should they occur. These sessions are a lot of fun and give you the opportunity to get familiar with the gear and techniques before making your first real ocean dives.
Open Water Dives: This is what it is all about – you’ll be making your first 4 dives in the ocean! We aim take you to the Bida Islands and Phi Phi Ley Island so you make some epic dives during your program. During the dives you’ll be asked to show your instructor the skills that you practiced previously and in between you’ll be blown away by our underwater world! You’ll learn what it’s like going out on a boat diving trip and you’ll experience the camaraderie on board. It’s a LOT of fun!
